Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Jay Dubois website, including pages for Stop Leaking Power, private sessions, and The Human Capacity Project. Heart Center LA operates the commercial and administrative services described here for Jay Dubois and is the merchant shown for purchases processed through Stripe.
Third-party services have their own privacy practices. Links to those services are provided below so you can review how they handle information.
Information collected
Information you provide
- Contact information: name, email address, and an optional phone number.
- Private-session information: location or time zone, a brief description of what you want to work on, required acknowledgements, and scheduling choices.
- Book-order information: order details, shipping information, and purchase status. Stripe collects payment-card information directly; this site does not receive your full card number.
- Communications: information you send by email, through a form, or in connection with customer support.
- Marketing choice: whether you separately choose to receive newsletters or promotional email.
Please do not submit confidential medical, legal, financial, or similarly sensitive information through a general inquiry or session-purchase form.
Information collected automatically
WordPress.com and connected services may collect technical information such as an IP address, browser and device information, referring pages, pages viewed, approximate location derived from an IP address, cookie identifiers, and security or transaction signals. Payment, scheduling, and email providers may also create records showing whether a transaction, appointment, or message was completed.
How information is used
Information is used to:
- process and fulfill book orders;
- process payment for private sessions and coordinate the first appointment;
- create Google Meet details and maintain booking, rescheduling, and cancellation records;
- send transaction, scheduling, service, and support messages;
- maintain customer and consent records;
- protect the site, customers, and services from fraud, abuse, and technical failure;
- understand site use and improve the website and services; and
- send marketing messages only when you have separately chosen to receive them.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing is based on performing a contract with you, your consent, compliance with legal obligations, or legitimate interests such as operating, securing, and improving the services.
Retention and security
We retain only the information needed for the purpose for which it was collected:
- Minimal payment, order, refund, and accounting records are kept for seven years.
- A book delivery address is kept until 12 months after fulfillment or the resolution of a related dispute, whichever is later.
- Private-session intake and scheduling information is kept for two years after the four-session package ends.
- An incomplete private-session checkout record is scheduled for deletion after seven days.
- Marketing contact information is kept until you unsubscribe, request deletion where applicable, or it is no longer needed.
Full payment-card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by this website, Pabbly, or Brevo. A record may be kept longer when reasonably necessary for an active dispute, fraud prevention, security, or a legal obligation.
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and privacy rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to receive information about how it has been used or disclosed. You may also object to or restrict certain processing where applicable. A request may require identity verification, and some information may be retained when required for transactions, security, legal compliance, or other lawful exceptions.
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe method. Transactional messages about an order, payment, or appointment may still be sent when needed to provide the requested service.
To submit a privacy request, email clarity@jayduboisphd.com with the subject “Privacy request.”
California disclosures
During the preceding 12 months, the site may have collected identifiers and contact information, customer and commercial records, internet or device activity, approximate location derived from an IP address, and information contained in inquiries. These categories come from you, your device, and the service providers listed above. They are used and disclosed for the business purposes described in this policy.
California residents may have rights to know, correct, or delete personal information and to receive equal service when exercising those rights, subject to applicable thresholds and exceptions. An authorized agent may submit a request, but authorization and identity may need to be verified. This site does not offer a financial incentive for personal information and does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children
The site and its commercial services are intended for adults. Purchases and private sessions are available only to people who are at least 18 years old. The site is not directed to children under 13, and personal information is not knowingly collected from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
International visitors
Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where service providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection rules from your country. Applicable transfer safeguards are used where required by law.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the website, services, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of the page will be revised, and additional notice will be provided when a material change requires it.
